ElectriCalc Version 2.2 Installation Help
Since January 2001, ElectriCalc has been distributed on CD-ROM. We provide two copies of the installation software on the CD-ROM. If you have installation problems that might be due to bad data, try the 2nd copy of the installation software. On your CD-ROM drive, run SETUP.EXE in the DISK2 folder. This might also be necessary if you have problems with an NT installation. The 2nd copy has an installer that's more NT-friendly. If you have problems later on, there is an image copy in the Ecalc2 folder. Simply copy the Ecalc2 folder from the CD-ROM and paste it into your c: drive using Windows Explorer or whatever you feel comfortible with.
Compatibility:
ElectriCalc Version 2.2 is no longer compatible with Windows 3.1x, as it is no longer a 16-bit program. It should be compatible with:
- Windows 95, 98
- Windows NT 4
- Windows ME
- Windows 2000
- Windows XP
ElectriCalc has also been run successfully on Mac with Windows emulators, and also on Linux. That doesn't mean you won't have a problem, but you probably know more about the Mac or Linux than we do!

If you see this message, it's probably due to one of two things. The first is that an upgrade is not installed in the same folder as your original ecalc installation. This is the most common installation problem.
New installations are supposed to go in
c:\Program Files\SLK Electronics\ecalc2 to satisfy the Microsoft purists. Your initial installation is probably in c:\ecalc2. This can be remedied by uninstalling the upgrade then reinstalling in the proper folder (usually c:\ecalc2).
The second reason is that someone who does not already have ecalc attempts to run the upgrade thinking it is a working copy of ecalc. We do not offer evaluation software, but our Tutorial will show how everything works.

If you see this message, you [hopefully] have a revision lower than 2.20.02. The problem was introduced during beta testing to accommodate a user with the need to model a very large wing area (man-carrying). The problem occurs with plane names that are the maximum number of characters. The ultimate solution is to update to the latest ecalc2.exe.

If you can still run ecalc and get to Update Files then you should be home free. Unfortunately, sometimes the too-long plane name is the default plane and you can't run ecalc. In this case, edit the file ecalc2.ini using Notepad. There should be a line that includes PLANE =. Delete this line and save the file. You should now be able to run ecalc and use Update Files to get rid of this stupid bug.
